The Minister of Information, Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will meet Cabinet tomorrow, 30th December, 2020 for a final decision on the possible reopening of schools in January.
In a tweet today, 29th December, 2020, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stated that the president’s agenda “will be to examine the proposal for assuring the safety of our children, should schools reopen.”
President Akufo – Addo officially closed schools in March 16, 2020 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. In his address to the Nation, the president said “All universities, senior high schools and basic schools – public and private schools will be closed Monday, March 16, 2020 till further notice”.
The Minister of Information on 23rd December, in a press briefing said that “The president taskforce on Covid- 19 is actually going to be working throughout the Christmas period towards the new year”. He added, “one of the major items on the table is school reopening in the new year”.
