Nancy Pelosi calls on Pence to remove Trump from office


The Speaker of U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has joined the call for President Donald Trump to be removed from the White House after his supporters stormed Capitol.

Nancy Polesi said Donald Trump committed a “Seditious Act” and is calling for his immediate removal. “In calling for this ‘Seditious Act’ , President has committed an unspeakable assault on our nation and our people” she said.

In a weekly news conference, Ms Pelosi said Trump incited an armed rebellion against America that will forever stain the nation’s history. “The president of the United States incited and armed insurrection against America”.

Ms Polesi has called on the Vice- President, Mike Pence to act in the removal of Donald Trump from office immediately. “I join the Senate Democrat leader and calling on the Vice President to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment” She said.

Ms Pelosi said if the Vice President and cabinets do not act, Congress may be compelled to move forward with impeachment. If Mr. Trump is impeached, he will be the only President in the history of America to have been impeached twice.

She added that Justice will be done to those who were involved in the act which to her is an act of sedition. The Police said a woman was shot dead during the incident and three others died.

Mr. Trump is due to leave office on 20th January, 2021 when Democrat Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.

Mr. Trump has refused to concede defeat to Mr. Biden and has said he will not attend his Swearing – in Ceremony.
